ROOT CHAKRA

ROOT CHAKRA (1st chakra)

Color : Red

Sanskrit : Muladhara

Role : Grounding - Security - Trust - Stability

WHAT IS THE ROOT CHAKRA ?

On a physical level The root chakra is the first of the 7 main chakras. Located under the perineum, between the genitals, the root chakra is the starting point of the VITAL ENERGY of the human body. It is this chakra that binds us to the physical and material world. It is connected to the genitals, to the primary physiological needs and to the survival instinct. He is also the one who manages aspects related to childbirth.

On an emotional and mental level

It is the root chakra that supports mental and emotional STABILITY. When balanced, the root chakra gives strength, confidence, determination and generates a sense of security.

On a spiritual level And finally, the root chakra is used to ANCHOR the body in matter.

BALANCED ROOT CHAKRA

STABILITY and BALANCE are the first sign of a balanced root chakra.

Being connected to your body and its needs, feeling good about yourself, having SELF-CONFIDENCE are also signs that your root chakra is open and well balanced.

As this chakra is closely linked to our physical health, good VITALITY is also a sign that it is doing well.

SIGNS OF AN UNDERACTIVE ROOT CHAKRA

When the root chakra is out of balance, we tend to experience a lot of FEARS and INSECURITY on a daily basis:

  • STRESS

  • ANXIETY

  • Excessive shyness

  • Insecurity (financial insecurity, constant worry, disaster scenarios)

  • Difficulty trusting others

  • Anxieties, nightmares, night terrors

  • Fear of losing (a person, a material good, a social status)

  • Fear of displeasing, of being judged

  • Fear of rejection

  • Fear of not being good enough

  • Irrational fears

  • Phobias

  • OCD

BLOCKED ROOT CHAKRA

When it is completely blocked, the person will quietly slip into a state of exhaustion (physical / psychological / burn-out) since his vital energy is deficient.

In people whose vital energy does not circulate (or very little) in the root chakra, the "wet firecracker" effect is often noted: lack of self-confidence, defeatist attitude, lack of enthusiasm, inability to get into action. The person may have the impression that they have no control over their life or they may simply let themselves be carried away by events, without making any real decisions.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE AN OVER ACTIVE ROOT CHAKRA ?

In the case of an over-active root chakra, it is quite the opposite: the vital energy accumulates in too great quantities and can create a lot of impulsiveness, like an exploding volcano. This can lead the person to make decisions without thinking, to be intolerant or embittered, to express excessive anger and even sometimes, aggression. These people are often said to have a "hot temper".

LACK OF GROUNDING

A lack of grounding is also a sign that the root chakra is not functioning well. People in whom the grounding is not good are quite recognizable! They are people who are not down to earth, who struggle with logistics, who are constantly on the moon, forget their appointments, are often late, lose their keys, are clumsy and disorganized.

Fortunately, it is easy to re-establish a good grounding by receiving a REIKI treatment or by practicing a GROUNDING EXERCISE.

HOW TO ACTIVATE THE ROOT CHAKRA ?

This chakra tends to activate on its own when we are connected with our BODY and/or NATURE. To do so, you can:

  • Walk barefoot

  • Sing the sound Om̐ (C)

  • Practicing moderate physical activity can help you activate it and maintain its vitality.

  • Practice activities that keep you connected with your body such as: dancing, walking, capoera, trapeze, martial arts, etc.

  • Practice activities that keep you in connection with Mother Earth and her 4 elements:

WATER element: swimming, taking a bath or shower, dancing in the rain...

FIRE element: relax around a fire, light candles...

AIR element: burn sage, breathe fresh air, practice conscious breathing, sing…

EARTH element: hiking, gardening, taking care of animals...
